As a widely used packaging material, the environmental friendliness of PP woven bags has always been the focus of the industry. From the perspective of material properties, recycling and environmental impact, PP woven bags have certain environmental advantages, but there is also room for improvement, which needs to be viewed objectively in combination with the full life cycle assessment.
PP (polypropylene) material itself has inherent environmental protection characteristics. Its production process consumes 20% less energy than traditional plastic bags, and it has strong chemical stability and does not release any harmful substances such as heavy metals. Compared with paper packaging bags, PP woven bags can be reused up to 5-10 times, and the single load capacity is 25-50kg. The material consumption under the same load is only 1/3 of that of paper bags, which can reduce resource waste.
The recycling and reuse system is improved to enhance the environmental value. PP woven bags can be 100% recycled and melted, and the recycled materials can be used to produce recycled woven bags, plastic baskets and other products, with a recycling rate of over 80%. Industry data shows that each ton of recycled PP material can save 6 tons of crude oil and reduce 3 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, which is in line with the concept of circular economy.
But we need to face up to its environmental challenges. If discarded at will, it takes 200-300 years for PP woven bags to degrade naturally, which may cause visual pollution. However, by adding degradable masterbatch (such as PBAT), degradable PP woven bags can be made, which can be decomposed into carbon dioxide and water within 180 days in a composting environment, thus solving the environmental burden after disposal.
Application scenario optimization helps environmental protection. In the agricultural field, PP woven bags replace sacks and cloth bags to reduce the consumption of wood and cotton; the logistics industry uses them to replace disposable plastic bags to reduce the generation of packaging waste. Through recycling models such as "old for new", its recycling rate can be further improved.
In general, PP woven bags have strong environmental protection under reasonable use and recycling system, and are a high-quality choice to replace high-pollution and high-consumption packaging materials. In the future, with the advancement of degradation technology, its environmental protection potential will be further released.
